In our life and work, hose products can be seen everywhere, including plastic hoses, garden hoses, and cold-resistant hoses. As an indispensable device in the hose, the hose joint is widely used in specific environments. What do we generally need to pay attention to when installing garden hose fittings?
Choose the fittings you need for your specific task. Common fittings include connectors, adapters, nozzles, and sprinklers. Make sure the fittings are the correct size for your hose.
Turn off the water supply to the hose.
If you’re attaching a new fitting, use pliers or a wrench to unscrew the old fitting from the hose.
If necessary, apply a small amount of lubricant to the threads of the new fitting. This will help it screw on more easily.
Screw the new fitting onto the hose by hand, making sure it’s tight.
Use pliers or a wrench to tighten the fitting further, being careful not to overtighten it.
Test the fitting by turning on the water supply and checking for leaks. If there are any leaks, use a wrench to tighten the fitting further.
If you’re attaching multiple fittings, repeat the process for each one.
Precautions for garden hose fittings:
- When installing the hose joint, the screw rod of the bolt should extend to the outside of the joint, and the bolts on the end face of each flange should be tightened repeatedly and evenly by diagonal pressure to prevent pressure deviation.
- The threaded joint should be tightened evenly with a standard wrench. Do not use a force bar to force the joint to slip, slide or break. It should be checked regularly to avoid loosening and causing detachment or water seepage.
- At the same time, considering the aging problem of rubber products, it is necessary to build sunshade frames outdoors or on pipelines facing the sun and wind, and it is necessary to strictly prohibit exposure to the sun, rain, and wind erosion.
- Before installation, the appropriate model must be selected according to the working pressure, connection method, medium and compensation amount of the pipeline, and the quantity should be selected according to the noise reduction displacement requirements.
- Note that when the hose joint is under pressure for the first time, for example, after the installation is under pressure or before it is restarted after a long-term shutdown, the bolts should be re-pressurized and tightened before being put into operation.
- Pay attention to the adjustment of the pressure. When the instantaneous pressure of the pipeline is greater than the working pressure, a joint with a grade higher than the working pressure should be selected.
- Pay attention to its water temperature adjustment. The normal applicable medium is ordinary water with a temperature of 0-60 degrees Celsius, and special medium.
- For high-rise water supply or suspended water supply, the pipeline should be fixed on the hanger, bracket or anchor frame, and the joint should not be allowed to bear the weight and axial force of the pipeline itself, otherwise the joint should be equipped with an anti-pull-off device.
- When the displacement of the pipeline is greater than or equal to the maximum compensation of the joint, the number of joints should be increased to parallelize the displacement. It is strictly forbidden to adjust the tolerance of the pipeline so that the joint is in the state of extreme bending displacement and deviation, let alone exceed the limit.
